Praise to all seamstresses
Give praise when praise is due. Look around you … to the over worked, the under paid, the under appreciated, — to those that make our lives better in small, invisible ways.
I sit here staring at a pile of silk that would have taken me 2 weeks to hem. Lovely, perfect craftsmanship. I breathe a sigh of relief and I am glad that I am not afraid to ask a professional for a little help sometimes.
My own sewing pile sits there still unfinished — face it, I have the attention span of a fruit fly. It’s probably why I am so well suited to making one distinct piece of work and then moving on to something completely different.
One must accept their limitations. I am comforted to know that there is a strong, goddess of the needle helping me out when time gets pressed.

I wonder who you are talking about.
I’m excited that you have a new blog!
I’m viewing through Firefox v.2, and the list of links under My Stuff is overlapping the center text, though. Might want to look at that sometime.
I also am not a fan of all that hemming. I think I lost myself a big local commission by saying that I’d be happy to dye a dozen yards of silk for them to make into skirts and sleeve decorations… but that I would have to decline to finish all the edges as they wished. Even pointing out that doing the hemming themselves would save them a bundle didn’t work.
Thanks for letting me know! Yikes! now that IS ugly! Firefox here I come.
Hi Darlene,
I just posted a comment about the tencel nylon and wanted to thank you for your information. As to your limitations (grin) is the fact that my husband thinks I’m insane. If you see the few costumes that I have designed and created on my myspace page, you might understand slightly. The really big costumes have not been loaded yet, but I have one that I created a crescent moon into the fringe. I do not purchase the fringe, I string it all myself. I also create all of my beaded and coin hip scarves. I don’t have pics yet, but they will be on my website eventually. Your veil above is beautiful!.
Have a great day and continue to know your limitations. giggle
