Good day, world!
If you’re reading this, it means that I must have done something right because it would indicate that I finally got this new website and blog working. I swear, regardless of how easy they tell you it is, getting all the parts working the way you thought they should is not the piece of cake they’re selling you. It still needs work, but at least the bare bones seem to be doing what they should.
Work on new pieces has been pretty slow for the past month or so … by choice. I was sick as a dog in December with a cold the likes of which I’ve never experienced and it seemed to last forever. It’s February now and I’m still feeling like I need to recover. There’s probably a touch of SAD involved (seasonal affective disorder). For those of you living in the cold northern hemisphere, you probably get what I mean. By January most of us are going a little crazy from lack of proper sunlight. And the blinding glare off the snow doesn’t count as proper sunlight, in case you’re thinking that it might.
With another full time job, dyeing has had to take a back seat. I’ve had moments that were highly productive, but in general I’ve been staying away from the dyes, the chems, and the steaming combination of both. Concentrating on a few changes to the web site, a new look for the eBay store, catching up on year end paperwork
, ordering supplies for the upcoming madness of the spring busy season — which also involves dealing with customs, tracking down lost parcels … all kinds of life sucking unpleasantries.
I’m going to put a picture in here just to see if that function is working as it should.

(It seems to be).
This Sunday afternoon is dedicated to sewing hems on lovely half circle veils. That’s probably the most ungodly job ever. As much as I can, I don’t believe in farming out the work to third world sweat shops, so it’s the price that I must pay to get the job done to my satisfaction. I get to be my own slave labour today.

Way to go Dar! This explains the WordPress or Typepad email you sent me a few weeks ago.
Looks great! Woo!
I had a little help from WordPress for Dummies too.
love the fresh look! fantastic work..hope you get over that SAD thing, we get it here too even in hawaii..go figure!
slave labor used to be cheap but now it’s costing more and more! i do not envy you sewing the hems that is tedious work!
is this a blog website or something you created? its really sharp and clean
it’s a little of both; I started with the WordPress blog software that comes with my Yahoo account, massaged the menus a bit and dropped in the content from the old website. I love playing with geeky stuff I know nothing about and seeing it turn out! (though this didn’t happen overnight)
Tis beautiful!
Congrats – sorry it has taken a few days to coment, see I was sewing these hems on these circular veils….
did you hit reload until you saw the fabric of your blouse? lol
